G Gathering Portsmouth Sports Club

Portsmouth Sports Club

The October meeting of Portsmouth Sports Club was held at the Elizabeth Manor Golf and Country Club. Old Dominion University Athletic Director Dr. Wood Selig was the guest speaker. Dr. Selig gave an update on the status of Old Dominion's scholar athletes and the future plans for his school's new stadium. He explained that the football program is on the right track and Coach Wilder's program is everything the administration hoped it would be. New capital projects in the next decade through 2020 will total in excess of $250 million dollars. This, he said, proves the university's commitment to intracollegiate athletics.

Of major concern to college ADs across the country is the impending lawsuits against the NCAA seeking additional cost of attendance reimbursement money for student athletes. Colleges will need to address this issue in the very near future.

Portsmouth Sports Club will host its next meeting in November.
